Discover the National Civics Bee®

The National Civics Bee® is an inspiring initiative designed to ignite the civic spirit among middle school students across the nation. In partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the North Oakland Regional Chambers Association is proud to host this nonpartisan competition. Our mission is to foster informed and active citizenship, which is crucial for a thriving economy and society. Students from grades 6 to 8 are invited to participate, showcasing their understanding of civics for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes. Finalists will have the honor of competing in the national championship in Washington, DC, in Fall 2025.

How to Enter the National Civics Bee®

Step 1

Middle school students in grades 6 through 8 can enter by submitting an essay that highlights their civic ideas to improve their community. This is the first step in the competition journey.

Step 2

The application period opens in Fall 2024 and closes February 4, 2025. Be sure to check the official rules and guidelines before submitting your entry.

Step 3

Finalists from local competitions will advance to the state, and then national stage, where they will compete for top honors in Washington, DC. Stay tuned for more details on live events and prizes.
