This has become a signature event as we develop branding and development of the Dixie Byway from exits 93 to 106. The North Oakland Regional Chambers Association is pleased to partner with the growing number of businesses on the Dixie Byway.
This is a great event to highlight the rich history of the Dixie Byway corridor. There are always great sponsors, vendors, prizes, and trophies. We are looking forward to another great turn out at the 2026 Car Show on Saturday, October 10, 2026
The day begins with an optional "Drive Up the Dixie."
Drivers are invited to gather from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Waypoint Church near the I75 exit 93. the youth group provides coffee and donuts, making a great start to the day. At 9:30 the Drive begins as everyone heads up to Mt. Holly Ski and Snowboard Resort where the show takes place. In 2025 we had over 250 vehicles do the drive.
The Main Event is at Mt. Holly Ski and Snowboard Resort running from 10am to 2pm. We have a live band, food trucks, vendors, and prizes.
We encourage the community to come out to watch the cars Drive the Dixie and then check them out upclose at Mt. Holly. It is a free event to come look.
New for 2026
We have partnered with The Deegan Project. They are one of our Chamber Members.
Deegan Walton was just like any high school boy, until the day he ended his life in a tragic auto accident. His family created The Deegan Project, a Michigan registered non-profit, with the mission of helping to end the stigma that surrounds mental health by providing education, raising awareness, and providing resources to teens struggling with mental health issues.
We are charging a $10 registration fee this year and will be donating half the proceeds from the registrations to The Deegan Project. Advance registrations will also be entered in a special drawing with a prize of $200. You have to be advance registered to be entered.

The Old Dixie Highway
The Dixie Highway was one of America’s earliest major automobile routes, developed in the 1910s to connect the Midwest and northern cities with the South and Florida. It was championed by entrepreneur Carl G. Fisher, a pioneer of the automobile age who also helped create the Lincoln Highway and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Fisher saw better roads as essential to the future of travel, tourism, and business.
Fisher’s vision for the Dixie Highway was closely tied to his investments in Florida, especially his development of Miami Beach as a major resort destination. By making it easier for motorists to drive south, the highway helped bring visitors to Florida’s growing resort communities and supported hotels, businesses, and towns along the route. Though the original Dixie Highway was later absorbed into the modern U.S. highway system, its legacy remains in the communities it connected and the tourism it helped inspire.
Locally, the Dixie Highway is part of Holly and Oakland County’s own transportation story. The route followed older pathways such as the Saginaw Trail, which connected Detroit with the Saginaw Valley long before the automobile era. In Oakland County, about 23 miles of Dixie Highway passed through the county, including the Holly and Groveland Township area, where crossroads such as Grange Hall and Dixie served travelers moving from footpaths and stagecoaches to railroads and motorcars.
